Who are we?

United Way of the Yampa Valley does what no single organization can do. We connect and mobilize resources, people, and passion in strategic ways to achieve our goals, positively impact lives, and change the story for thousands of people in Northwest Colorado.

Who is ALICE? And Why Does This Demographic Matter?

Did you know that many hardworking families in the Yampa Valley struggle to afford the basics—housing, childcare, food, and healthcare—despite being employed? These families are ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed), and they play a vital role in keeping our communities running.

Join us for an important discussion on the ALICE Report, where we’ll dive into:

  • How ALICE is calculated (survival budgets, housing costs, and income)
  • Why recognizing this demographic is crucial for our community
  • Studies and resources available to support ALICE families

Understanding ALICE is the first step toward creating solutions. Let’s work together to build a stronger, more resilient Yampa Valley!

Our impact areas

Youth Opportunity

We help organizations create pathways for young people to reach their goals, from early childhood education to support of at-risk youth.

Healthy Community

We support providing health in various facets – from facilitating access to nutritious food to quality education and services.

Financial Security

Facilitating education, tools, and training so individuals and families can have financial freedom to build a stronger future.

Community Resiliency

We help our communities prepare for, prevent, and respond to challenges like crisis support and disaster relief.

Every day, we’re working to help our communities thrive.

“The United Way of the Yampa Valley is a strong organization that provides necessary funding and resources to the non-profits in our county. One of the greatest resources that UWYV offers is the development of cooperative relationships among the providers in the non profit community! This relationship building and sharing of resources supports our non profits in providing exemplary services to many of the neediest populations including children and adults in our community.”
